Business Opportunity: As Design Manager and Lead Experience Designer for the Lycos in Mountain View, I was responsible for the design and implementation of various products in the Lycos network including Autos, Small Business, Music, Finance, and Communication. I worked closely with individual product management teams to define a user experience for each unique product that delivered the desired content, established meaningful integration with other lycos network services and recognized advertising opportunities.
Lycos Mail: Improving the Interaction Design of Online Communications
With over 1 million active users Lycos Mail has the largest user base in the Lycos network. By leveraging a more competitive feature set and improved performance, Lycos hoped to deliver the best user experience in the online communications market.
Lycos.com: Creating a Global Design Style Guideline
From 1997 through 1999, Lycos grew very quickly through a series of company acquisitions and mergers. This created a variety of user experience design challenges including branding, global navigation, and site integration issues. In 1999, I was selected as member of the first Lycos Network Design Group. This group focused on defining standards for the entire Lycos network of sites, including information architecture, navigation design, interaction design, and visual design.
